A pot-luck picnic and craft-making highlight the celebration of Sukkot by the Jewish Cultural School & Society on Sunday, Sept. 22. Families from Essex, Union, Passaic, Bergen and Morris counties are invited to the 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. event in the Tulip Springs North grove, off Pleasant Valley Way, of South Mountain Reservation in West Orange.
The cultural significance of this fall harvest festival will be outlined in a program led by Bennett Muraskin of Parsippany. The JCSS faculty will help participants of all ages in building a sukkah. This program substitutes for a class day at the JCSS Sunday Program for children, which has separate instructors for history, literature, holidays, conversational Hebrew and art.
