Employee burned at Linden company

LINDEN — Linden Police responded this morning to Solar Compounds, 1201 W. Blancke St., on a report of an industrial accident.

A male employee, 50, was working with a non-toxic liquid asphalt when a pump malfunctioned and it splattered the man with the hot material. The employee was wearing, goggles, gloves, and layers of protective clothing, however, he still suffered second degree burns to his head, face, neck, and hands.

He was transported to Linden Airport where he was airlifted by State Police helicopter to St. Barnabas Medical Center’s Burn Unit, Livingston.

Linden Police, Fire Department ambulance crew, and Medic 10 personnel were at the scene.

OSHA was notified of the incident.
