UNION — The Les Malamut Art Gallery will present a collection of paintings by Union artist Dave Cubie who is also director of Hillside Public Library. The show will open on Jan. 22 and close Feb. 28. A reception to meet the artist is planned for Saturday, Feb. 1 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Cubie has been painting steadily for 28 years and he loves experimenting within its parameters . “I don’t care about having a style or repeating myself in order to have a marketable product,” said Cubie.
He began drawing in childhood and has continued to refine his work into adulthood. “Painting is a symbiote, a strange rider I cannot escape,” he said.
He received a BA degree in Fine Art from Mount Vernon Nazarene University and a MFA in Painting and Drawing from Kent State University.
His work has been exhibited in numerous shows from Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania and Kentucky. Artwork is available for purchase by contacting the artist.
The Gallery is located on the lower level of Union Public Library, 1980 Morris Ave. The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular library hours. It is handicapped accessible.

Dave has produced many fantastic paintings, and I’ve had the privilege to view many of his works. He deserves to be considered among the great artists of our time.
