SUMMIT — On Oct. 20, for the first time in the department’s history, the Summit Police Department Honor Guard presented the colors at a professional sporting event — the New York Jets versus the New England Patriots at MetLife Stadium.
“No matter whether you support the Jets or the Giants, if you’re a Summit resident you have to be proud of our Honor Guard, said Summit Police Chief Robert Weck.
“These men practice throughout the year and present the colors at parades and all types of events, although none as spectacular as this. Seeing our officers and the words “Summit Police Department” on the huge scoreboard was deeply gratifying for our Honor Guard officers and their families and is a moment I know I will never forget.”
