Elizabeth man killed in Christmas day shooting at go-go bar in Irvington

IRVINGTON — Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray and Irvington Police Director Joseph Santiago announced yesterday that the Irvington Police and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigation a shooting incident.

Five males were shot — three fatally — at Slicks go-go bar on Nye Avenue & 21st Street in Irvington during the early morning hours on Christmas day.

Two of the dead have been identified.

They are Pierre Clervoyant, 34, of Elizabeth and Woodley Daniel, 32, of Irvington. A third man remains unidentified. All three were pronounced dead at University Hospital in Newark shortly after 1 a.m.

Pierre is the owner’s son. The other victim worked there. The unidentified person appears to be an unintended target.

Two other people were shot — a 27-year-old male from Irvington and a 34-year-old male from East Orange.

”It appears the gunman was trying to enter the bar armed and was stopped by the bouncer,” said Chief Anthony Ambrose of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Essex County Sheriff’s Crimestoppers Program is offering up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

The investigation is active and ongoing. No other information is available today.
