Catherine Blowe, varsity gymnastics

“Catherine Blowe has been an amazing example of perseverance during her time on the CHS gymnastics team. Despite injuries along the way, Catherine qualified for and competed at the NJSIAA Individual State Championships this year. She was also recently named First Team All-County in bars, beam, floor and all-around.”

What is your favorite part of gymnastics?
“Learning and doing skills that the average person can’t do and is impressed by.”

In what way has the sport benefited you?
“The sport has taught me a lot about myself. It has taught me to trust myself and my abilities, and to never give up when I am struggling or when things get tough.”

What is your biggest challenge in gymnastics?
“All the injuries I have faced over my career and trying to make a comeback to the sport after each injury.”

How do you get ready for a meet?
“Before a meet, I get everything that I need for the meet in order, like my grips, brace, tape, etc., and I just try and keep myself calm and not get too nervous.”

What’s your favorite memory of this season?
“Being able to compete in the NJSIAA Individual State Championship, because it was my first time qualifying to this meet. It was also a huge accomplishment for me personally.”

What is your favorite subject in school?
“Probably anything that has to do with math. I have just always enjoyed that subject the most.”

What other hobbies do you have?
“Besides gymnastics, I also like to do puzzles and listen to music.”

What are your plans after high school?
“To go to college and study something in business. I have also thought about possibly doing a club gymnastics team in college.”
