ELIZABETH — Senior students from Benedictine Academy in Elizabeth gathered prior to the start of their annual three-mile Cancer Walkathon through the communities of Elizabeth and Hillside on Oct. 2. The event was organized by the school’s Portuguese/American Club. The young women have raised almost $2000 so far, which will go to the American Cancer Society. Donations are still coming in and will continue to be counted until the end of October. Benedictine Academy is an all-female Catholic college prep secondary school located in Elizabeth.
