Rahway track and field teams excel at state relays

Boys' and girls' produce impressive performances

At the State Relay Championships held at the Bennett Center in Toms River Jan. 13, both Rahway  track and field squads turned in outstanding performances during elite competition held in Ocean County.

The boys’ performed well enough to place a strong third in the team standings.

The Indians took second place in both the shuttle hurdle relay and the 4 x 800 meter relay, in addition to earning third place in the sprint medley relay. Harlan Clarke and Kazeem Otun participated in two of those relays.

The girls’ finished 22nd in the team standings, led by a strong showing in the 4 x 800 meter relay, where the team of Zaverna Stephen, Damonique Harris, Tiffany Walker and Maritza Polynice finished fifth and ran the third fastest time in school history.
