PLAINFIELD — Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County, Plainfield Club had a very special visitor on Monday March 2 – The Cat In The Hat!
The Club celebrated Read Across America and Dr. Seuss’s birthday by having members bring in their favorite Dr. Seuss book to read during Power Hour after homework was completed.
The Cat in the Hat surprised Club members after snack time and spent time with each group in the Club, especially his biggest fans, The Buddies.
He posed for pictures and a read his favorite story to the group: “The Cat in the Hat”. It was a very special day for Club members, who enjoyed sharing a day dedicated to reading with their friends.
“What a great surprise for our Plainfield Club members,” said Russell Triolo, chief executive officer. “The Cat in the Hat is a special friend and it was fun to have him visit the Club and read to the Buddie Program members. Our members enjoyed the day so much and look forward to his next guest appearance.”
The Cat in the Hat was brought to life by one of the Plainfield Club’s Keystone members and the recipient of the “Spirit of the Year” Award for the Plainfield Club, Za’Ire C. Za’Ire is an active member of the Plainfield Club and is enthusiastic about participating in club events, as well as community service.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County offers youth programs in 6 communities in Union County: Plainfield, Elizabeth, Union, Hillside, Roselle and Linden. Teen leadership programs for ages 14 to 18 are available in Union, Elizabeth and Plainfield.
