Wednesday’s homicide in Elizabeth under investigation

ELIZABETH — Acting Union County Prosecutor Grace Park announced today that authorities are investigating the shooting of a man found dead in Elizabeth Wednesday evening.

The shooting victim, a Hispanic male believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, has yet to be identified.

Police responding to a 911 call indicating the discovery of a body rushed to the area of Court and 4th streets shortly after 6 p.m. on Wednesday to discover the victim in the area between the New Jersey Turnpike overpass and the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks.

A joint investigation involving the Union County Homicide Task Force and the Elizabeth Police Department was subsequently initiated.
