ELIZABETH — The Union County Homicide Task Force and the Elizabeth Police Department are jointly investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Monday afternoon in Elizabeth, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace Park announced today.
The victim, 22-year-old Bryant Sanders of Newark, was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was approximately 5 p.m. Monday when police received numerous 911 calls regarding a shooting that had just occurred in the area of Second and Pine streets in the city’s Elizabethport section. Responding officers found Sanders on the ground outside of a property there.
As of this morning no arrest had been made in connection with the shooting, which marked Union County’s second homicide of 2014. The investigation remains active, and anyone with information about this matter is being urged to contact Homicide Task Force Det. Robert Henderson at 908-747-4499.
