UNION COUNTY — The Arc of Union County is hosting The 50th Annual Candlelight Ball on Saturday, March 29, at The Grand Summit Hotel in Summit. Each year over 200 guests join The Arc to celebrate and honor those who with vision and commitment make a significant difference within the community. Funds raised from the event help to support the valuable programs and services offered to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Union and surrounding counties.
Candlelight Ball Chair and Vice President of The Arc’s Board of Directors, Judith A. Witterschein announced that during The Arc’s 50th Annual Candlelight Ball three individuals and two corporations will be honored.
Provident Bank and Beacon Trust, each will receive the Community Corporate Champion Award as involved corporate community citizens and excellent business partners with The Arc of Union County.
Samantha Saggio, resident of Scotch Plains and current participant in The Arc’sSaturday Respite Program will be recognized as the 2014 Ambassador of Goodwill
Mary Downs, resident of Clark, will receive The Betty McGhee Spirit of The Arc Award, and whose contributions have helped to enrich the lives of others by her support and volunteerism.
Dennis Whelan, resident of Piscataway, will be recognized with the 2014 Florence M. Levine Achievement Award for his work at Sears, volunteering for Meals on Wheels at senior centers and serving as a mentor to peers in The Arc ABLE program.
