ELIZABETH — A police officer is recovering from injuries sustained after being shot in Elizabeth, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace Park announced today.
The 32-year-old officer with the South Plainfield Police Department, who was off duty at the time of the incident, was rushed to a local hospital at approximately 2 a.m. after being shot outside the Jersey Girls nightclub on the 100 block of Bayway in Elizabeth.
The officer is expected to survive, and the circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
