Sunday’s UCT softball final between Westfield and GL postponed because of rain; Makeup date still to be determined

The 38th annual softball Union County Tournament championship game that was scheduled to be played at noon Sunday (May 19) at Kean University’s Cougar Field in Union has been postponed because of rain.

A makeup date has yet to be determined.

When the game is played it will be second-seeded and two-time defending champion Governor Livingston facing top-seeded Westfield.

GL has won five championships and will be trying to become only the fourth team to win three in a row.

Westfield has won the second-most championships with seven, but has not won the tournament since 1998.

The junior varsity UCT championship game between seventh-seeded Cranford and top-seeded Johnson will be played sometime during the week. If it’s not played at a neutral site then it will be played at Johnson since the Crusaders are the higher seed.
