Roselle Catholic girls’ basketball wins 20 games for 5th consecutive season

Lions will next take on Non-Public, South B field as the top seed

The Roselle Catholic girls’ basketball team, with its Union County Conference-Watchung Division 50-38 home win over Summit Thursday night, clinched a fifth consecutive 20-victory season.

Junior forward Tori Pozsonyi poured in a team-high 15 points, while senior forward Renee Oliver added 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds for another double-double.

Roselle Catholic improved to 20-4 overall and finished 12-2 in the Watchung Division, winning that league title for the third straight season.

The Lions are the top seed for next week’s Non-Public, South B playoffs.

Winning at least 20 games for five straight seasons is a pretty impressive accomplishment.

Probably the last team in Union County to acheive that feat was Union Catholic some time ago under head coach Kathy Matthews, who has over 600 victories.

Here’s a look at Roselle Catholic’s records the past five seasons:

The Lions are 108-23 (.824) from December 2008 to February 2013 so far under head coach Joe Skrec.
