Michael Angelo Alfano

August 21, 1931 – December 9, 2019

Michael A. Alfano, of Union, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Woodbridge, NJ. He was 88.
Mr. Alfano was born in 1931 in Newark, NJ and graduated from East Side High School in Newark. He served in U.S. Army during Korean War from June 1952 to March 1954 and was awarded a Bronze Star.
Michael worked as a Senior Draftsman for General Cable Corporation in Bayonne, NJ for 30 years. After leaving General Cable, he worked for the US Postal service for several years before retiring. He served as President of the Union High School Band Booster Club from 1975-1976.
He is survived by his wife, Cecelia Alfano; children Karen Alfano-Painter and her husband Kevin, Michael Alfano and his wife Jean, Patricia Alfano and Bruce Alfano and his fiancé Anne Meyer; and his loving sister, Gloria Vazzano. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Alfano was pre-deceased by his parents Michael and Maria (nee Vagliardo) Alfano; and his siblings
Gerard Alfano, Nicholas Alfano, Eleanor Franco, Anna Martucci, Jeannette Neri and Michelina Fasone.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 1212 Kelly St., Union on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 10:15 a.m. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Blvd., Union.
