UNION — The Rotary Club of Union has begun a new program this year —selling luminaries. Luminaries are an age-old tradition where a candle is nestled in sand at the bottom of a paper bag and placed along the sidewalk to create a beautiful lighted pathway to your front door.
The club will be selling these at two locations: Union High School at the Morris Ave entrance near the Administration Building at 2369 Morris Ave, near Cooke Drive, and the Department of Public Works parking lot at 1 Swanstrom Place, off of Stahuber Avenue.
Sale Dates are Saturday, Dec. 20 and Sunday, Dec. 21 from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m. and again on Christmas Eve from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kits are $1 each sold in sets of 10 kits for $10.
Residents are invited to join their neighbors in lighting homes on Christmas Eve with inspiring candlelight that adds beauty to the holiday season and lights the path to Bethlehem.
All proceeds help the community and those in need. For more information call 908-687-9181 or visit facebook.com/unionrotary.
The club welcomes any member of the community who might like to join the group in putting “Service Above Self.” Meetings are held every Thursday at Suburban Golf Club, Morris Ave promptly at 12:15 p.m.
In the Netherwood Heights section of Plainfield, our group lights around 4,000 luminaries on Christmas Eve! Enjoy!
