The Roselle Park football team will now play at South Hunterdon Saturday night at 7 after the game was postponed Friday night after a transformer box shot off sparks from a pole as the football field’s lights ad scoreboard went dark during pre-game warmups.
“We were on the field stretching when it happened,” Roselle Park second-year head coach Terry Hanratty said.
Both teams are 2-0 overall and also 2-0 and at the top of the Hills Division of the Mid-State 38 Conference. The two, along with Bound Brook, shared last year’s Hills Division championship, each posting 3-1 league marks.
After starting 2-0 with consecutive road victories last year, Roselle Park was defeated at home by South Hunterdon 19-9.
Roselle Park began its 2013 season with home wins over Pingry 21-0 and Manville 61-13.
South Hunterdon defeated Belvidere 17-7 at home and then Pingry 20-6 on the road.
