The girls’ soccer Union County Tournament was to kick off this Saturday, Sept. 28, with four preliminary round matches.
Defending co-champion Scotch Plains was awarded the top seed once again.
Four first round games are scheduled to be played Wednesday, Oct. 2, with four more second round games set to take place Saturday, Oct. 5.
The quarterfinals and semifinals are scheduled for the second and third weekends of October. All rounds will be played at the higher seeds until the semifinals are contested at Johnson in Clark and the final at Kean University in Union.
The championship game will be played the last weekend in October.
ScotchPlains has won or shared seven of the last eight UCT crowns, which is all of the titles the Raiders have won.
Scotch Plains has also appeared in the last eight finals.
Westfield, which shared the title with Scotch Plains last year, has won the most crowns with 19.
The Blue Devils have not won the championship outright since 2001.
