Warney was named America East Conference Rookie of the Week for the fifth time on Jan. 7. Warney is averaging 11.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting a conference-best 61.3 percent from the field. He has blocked at least one shot in seven consecutive games and 13 of 14 games this season.Warney and the Seawolves are 10-4 overall and 1-0 in America East.
Laverty, a 2009 Roselle Catholic graduate, is a senior walk-on at Seton Hall. He scored his first college points in the Pirates’ 89-58 victory against Long Island University at the Barclays Center on Dec. 22.
“Nothing got the crowd happier than seeing recently named walk-on Connor Laverty get on the court for the game’s last two minutes,” stated Jerry Carino’s Hoops Haven blog. “A former manager of the team and Roselle Catholic alumni checked in and scored his first basket of the season which made the crowd even happier.
