Former ALJ record-scorer Poskay to be honored at 16th Annual New Jersey Lacrosse Hall of Fame Induction Dinner

National champion at Viriginia is now the head coach at Wagner

Matthew Poskay, former Alumni of Arthur L. Johnson High School, will be honored at the 16th Annual New Jersey Lacroose Hall of Fame Induction Dinner on January 27, 2013, at the Mercer Oaks Golf Club in Princeton Junction. The dinner is sponsored by the New Jersey South Lacrosse Chapter.

Matthew Poskay, former Alumni of Arthur L. Johnson High School has done it all. A professional player, a member of the US National Team pool, an All-American and National Champion at Virginia, the national high school record holder with 362 goals, and the New Jersey State record holder with 468 career points, Poskay has proven himself as an elite player at every level.

An All-American, two-time National Champion and the Cavaliers record holder for goals by a midfielder, the Clark, NJ native has continued to follow up his collegiate career with a successful professional tenure with the Boston Cannons. Some of his professional accolades include 2006 Cannons Rookie of the Year, 2007 MLL All Star and MLL All Star Game MVP, 2008 MLL All Star, and 2008 Cannons MVP and Offensive Player of the Year. Poskays professional career exploded in 2010, when he was named the 2010 MLL Most Valuable Player and 2010 Warriar Offensive Player of the Year. That year he was named a 2010 All Star while leading both the Boston Cannons and the MLL in goals scored and goals with 45 and points with 52. In 2011, Poskay won the MLL Championship with the Boston Cannons.

After serving as an Assistant Coach for two years at Drew University, Poskay was hired as the Head Lacrosse Coach at Wagner. For Poskay, the opportunity allowed him to take the reins of a Division I while continuing his professional lacrosse career.

Johnson High School, and his accomplishments in the sport of lacrosse have and will continue to be unparalleled. Arthur L. Johnson High School and the community of Clark are thrilled that he will be honored and inducted into the New Jersey Lacrosse hall of Fame, an honor that is most certainly well deserved.”
