The big football game in Union County this weekend is Saturday’s (Oct. 8) undefeated matchup featuring Union (3-0) at Westfield (4-0) at Westfield’s Gary Kehler Stadium.
However, there are several intriguing matchups Friday night (Oct. 7), including a battle of 4-0 teams in Rahway.
In Rahway’s first-ever game at its new turf field at Rahway River Park, the Indians will host Somerville, with the winner advancing to 5-0 status. In addition to both being 4-0 overall, both are 3-0 and tied for first place in the Mountain Division standings of the Mid-State 38 Conference.
Somerville, which won a combined four games the past four seasons, is averaging 48 points.
Rahway is 4-0 for the first time since 2013.
Governor Livingston, off its bye week, is 2-1 and hosting 4-0 Summit Friday night.
Brearley is 3-1 and has a two-game winning streak going into its Friday night game at rival Dayton (1-3), which won for the first time last weekend.
