Both Union High School varsity soccer teams were defeated in Union County Tournament quarterfinal round competition Saturday.
The fourth-seeded boys’ fell at home to fifth-seeded Elizabeth 3-2 in the first sudden death overtime.
A penalty kick goal by senior Jonathan Firmino with just 15 minutes left in the second half tied the game for Union at 2-2.
The fifth-seeded girls’ lost at fourth-seeded Oak Knoll 5-3. Union defeated Oak Knoll in regular season play this past Tuesday.
