Union County baseball has 15 of its 21 playing schools in the state tournament, which commences Monday, May 22 with first round action.
The sectional quarterfinals are scheduled for Thursday, May 25.
The semifinals are Tuesday, May 30 and the finals Friday, June 2.
The group semifinals – at neutral sites – are Tuesday, June 6.
The group finals are Saturday, June 10 at the three high schools in Toms River.
The only Union County schools that did not have enough power points to qualify in their sections were Linden, Roselle Catholic, Roselle, Plainfield, Hillside and St. Mary’s, Elizabeth.
Westfield last won North 2, Group 4 in 2013, Elizabeth in 2006 and Union in 2002.
Cranford has won North 2, Group 3 five of the first seven years of this decade: 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016.
Dayton won its first two North 2, Group 1 crowns in 2013 and 2014, beating Roselle Park in the 2013 final at home.
Roselle Park last won North 2, Group 1 in 2011.
Gov. Livingston won Central Jersey, Group 2 for the third time in 2015. The Highlanders were situated in North 2, Group 3 last year.
