Johnson boys’ basketball standout senior Visconti nearing 2,000 career points; Big division road games this week at Brearley Jan. 16 and at New Providence Jan. 18

As of Monday, Jan. 15, Johnson boys’ basketball standout George Visconti is 243 points shy of reaching 2,000.

So far during his senior season the 6-4 forward has scored 167 points in eight games for a 20.9 average. He produced 1,590 points his first three seasons, playing all 76 Johnson varsity games over that span.

Visconti has helped lead Johnson to a 5-3 overall start, while the Crusaders lead the Union County Conference’s Sky Division standings at 3-0.

Johnson is attempting to win the Sky Division championship for a third straight season.

This is a big week for the Crusaders, with division games scheduled at Brearley Tuesday, Jan. 16 and then at New Providence Thursday, Jan. 18.

Johnson is then scheduled to play St. Peter’s Prep this Saturday, Jan. 20 at Kean University as the second of four Investors Games. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.

Johnson opened with a 68-58 Sky Division home win over New Providence back on Dec. 15. The Pioneers began the week 7-2 overall and in second place in the Sky Division at 3-1.

Johnson started 17-1 last year and then reached the Central Jersey, Group 2 state championship game where it was edged at top-seeded Rumson-Fair Haven 57-51.
