Hillside football team comes back in second half to win consecutive games for first time in 3 years; Comets snap 8-game losing streak vs. Johnson

Top Crusaders for first time since 2004 and first time at home since 2003

Kudos to the Hillside football team for a magnificent victory in front of their home fans Saturday afternoon.

Hillside came back from a two-touchdown halftime deficit to turn back non-division foe Johnson 30-27.

After trailing 14-0 at halftime the Comets scored 14 points in the third quarter and 16 in the fourth.

Hillside, which improved to 2-1 overall and remained 1-1 in the Mountain Division of the Mid-State 38 Conference, has  now won consecutive games for the first time since they concluded the 2010 season with a three-game winning streak.

The Comets have also now won more than one game in a season since that 2010 campaign, which was a 3-7 finish.

Hillside snapped an eight-game losing streak against  Johnson and defeated the Crusaders for the first time since winning 21-14 in Clark on Oct. 16, 2004.

The last time Hillside defeated Johnson at Hillside was on Nov. 1, 2003, a 27-20 Comet triumph.

Hillside will next play at Warren Hills Friday night at 7 in Warren County’s Washington Township. The Blue Streaks are also 1-1 in the Mountain Division and 1-2 overall, falling in their last two games.
