Dayton boys’ soccer captures North 2, Group 1 championship; Bulldogs lost to Verona 1-0 in Nov. 15 Group 1 semifinal at Indian Hills

Nagy nets winner vs. Glen Ridge, while Bulldog goalkeeper Horowitz makes 7 saves

The Dayton boys’ soccer team captured the North 2, Group 1 championship by winning at top-seeded Glen Ridge 2-1 in double overtime Thursday, Nov. 10. The Bulldogs won the section as the second seed.
Dayton will next play North 1, Group 1 champion Verona in the Group 1 semifinal to be played Tuesday, Nov. 15 at Indian Hills at 7:30 p.m.
With a minute left before penalty kicks, Anthony Nagy scored the game-winning goal – his team-leading 27th – off an assist from Jose Mejia.
Dayton tied the game in the first half at 1-1 when Mejia scored on a penalty kick.
Bulldog goalkeeper Jared Horowitz made seven saves for the victory in goal.
Lucas Burke gave Glen Ridge a 1-0 lead. Ridgers goalie Quinn Allemand made eight saves.
Dayton is now 16-7-1 and has won five straight, including a 3-2 win at Governor Livingston before the North 2, Group 1 playoffs.
