Beatrice Smith, 87, of Union, died on Wed., June 28 at the JFK Medical Center, Edison.
Funeral services will be held at the Menorah Chapels at Millburn, 2950 Vauxhall Rd., Union on Fri., June 30 at 10:00AM. The interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.
Beatrice was a journalist and editor for Worrall Publications for over 50 years, handling obituaries, book reviews and interviews. She interviewed the stars of the plays at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, and reviewed the plays after opening. She also reviewed shows for the NJ Ballet and interviewed celebrities.
She attended Rutgers University in Newark and Seton Hall in South Orange studying journalism.
Born in Newark, she lived in Newark and Irvington before moving to Union in 1964.
Surviving are her brother Leonard Smith and his wife Arlene, and her nieces Natalie Harrington and Carole Smith.
Missing you, Bea, but have fond memories of our 65 years of friendship. You are with the hundreds you befriended during your 50 years with Worrall Publications and the Newark Evening News before that. Rest easy, my friend.
