  1. Thank you for your efforts to save this house……having grown up in the north end of Elizabeth I remember this house well….it should be preserved

  2. I am familiar with the Whyman Parish House, its history and architectural significance as one of the last 19th century Italianate villas in Elizabeth. I commend Leo Osorio, Kathy Cevallos and Paula Borenstein for their efforts in preserving this historic house and asking the City Council to get involved. A win-win outcome for all the interested parties would be for the City to purchase the Whyman Parish House for $1.00 and move it to a new location, perhaps on East Jersey St. next to the Belcher-Ogden House, where it could be renovated as a museum with a fund raising campaign.. The Central Baptist Church would benefit from the sale of the 1.3 acre property ($1.9 million asking price) for redevelopment as an apartment building. This would put the property and its improvements back on the City tax rolls, providing new tax revenue.
