RC girls’ soccer team will wear pink socks for Thursday’s game vs. Benedictine

In support of Breast Cancer Month

ROSELLE – The Roselle Catholic girls’ soccer team will look a little different for its game against Benedictine on Oct. 11. On the same date the RC volleyball team will host Bishop Ahr in its annual “Spike Breast Cancer” event, the Lions’ soccer players will wear pink socks for its match against Benedictine Academy on Chakey Field.

“In support of spiking breast cancer, the girls’ soccer team went out and purchased pink socks for (the game vs. Benedictine),” said veteran RC coach Gary Carvalho, whose son, Tomas, is a junior on the varsity boys squad. “We’ll call it kicking cancer.”

RC will carry a 3-7 record in to the match vs. Benedictine, a 4 p.m. start, which is about the same time the “Spike Breast Cancer” event will be kicking off in The Lions’ Den. The Roselle Catholic students and supporters will try to “pink out” the gym.
