The Clark 12-and-under Little League traveling baseball team captured its ninth district championship and fifth in the last 20 years by winning District 10 honors last month.
In double-elimination competition,Clark – with one loss – faced undefeated Sayre Woods South. In order to win the championship,Clark had to defeatSWS twice.
Clark posted a 7-5 win over SWS to force a championship game. The local Bombers then battled back in the last inning in dramatic fashion to win the title contest 9-8 for the championship. For the crowd in attendance it was a game for the ages.
Clark then advanced to the Section 3 Tournament inHamiltonTownship where it was defeated byNottingham 3-0. The Bombers came back to defeatBrickTown before concluding tournament play with a loss to Colts Neck.
With the sectionals behind them, the next stop for the Bombers wasCooperstownDreamsPark, a week-long tournament of 104 all-star teams from across the country.
Clark continued its consistent and focused play through these games and finished with a 3-3 record – including a win over the second-seeded team in its section.
That put the Bombers as the 49th overall seed for their playoffs.
After receiving a bye in the first two rounds, Clark defated a tough Boston squad 6-1 in the third round before falling to a team from California 3-0 in fourth round play.
The 49th seed is the highest rank anyClark team has seen in 10 years.
It was a terrific summer of baseball for theClark 12-and-under Bombers, who have a lot to be proud of.
Players included Tyler Matlosz, Ryan Spallone, Zachary Thornton, Joey West, Brandon Martucci, Vinny Crisafi, George Visconti, Brandon Rapp, Matthew Vigliotti, Christopher Armstrong and Joseph DiProfio.
Coaches included Jim West, George Visconti, Marc Crisafi, Frank Armstrong and the manager was Rich Vigliotti.The Clark Little League 12 and under team.
