Johnson bowlers 3-peat as conference and county champions; Crusaders sparked by a team effort

The Johnson bowling team is on a “roll” again!

For the third straight season the Crusaders captured two titles and wer ealso ranked No. 6 in the Star Ledger’s statewide Top 20 poll.

At the end of regular season play, Johnson clinched the Watchung Conference title and finished with a record of 12-1, losing only to Linden, the No. 2 ranked team in Union County.

Johnson also won the Union County Tournament competition for the third straight season. The crusade was led by seniors Vincent DiGeronimo and captain Danny Levitz and junior Steven Kotowski, all qualifying for the UCT individual tournament.

Danny Levitz finished second in the county by six pins.  Levitz rolled the tournament’s high game of 256 and had the second highest series of 682. Also making outstanding contributions and rounding out this year’s team are juniors Michael Griffin, Tom Malanga and Bobby Weisensee.

Coach Michele Zaleski said that she is, “thrilled with the team’s performance this season.”

“We have proved that we can run with the top teams in the state, so we are excited for the challenges that lie ahead,” Zaleski said.

The team was to next compete in Monday’s sectional  tournament at Jersey Lanes in Linden.
