7 Roselle Catholic girls scored in Monday’s road soccer victory; Lions improved to 2-0

Johnson, Ledbetter, Whittaker, Pitts, Colicchio, Charles and Williams netted goals

Seven girls scored girls on Monday when Roselle Catholic registered an 8-0, road victory against Paterson Charter.
RC, which improved to 2-0, received goals from Nia Johnson, Adia Ledbetter, Kayla Whitaker, Aliva Pitts, Michelle Collichio, Skyler Charles and Kendra Williams.
Freshman Alivia Pitts scored her first two varsity goals in Roselle Catholic’s season-opening, 3-1 victory over Roselle Park in Roselle Park on Sept. 13.

Kayla Whitaker also scored a goal, Ema Dias and Nia Johnson had assists and goalkeeper Adia Ledbettes made 19 saves for Roselle Catholic. The Lions and coach Gary Carvalho return to action Sept. 17 under the lights against Brearley High School in Kenilworth at 6:30.
RC Boys Soccer tops Cardinal McCarrick, Marist Junior Center Forward Antonio Altamirano scored four goals and picked up two assists in the Roselle Catholic boys’ soccer team’s season-opening, 7-1 victory against Cardinal McCarrick in South Amboy on Sept. 12.

Junior attacking center midfielder Alex Lago added two goals and two assists at Waterfront Park. Freshman Billy Carvalho scored his first Varsity Goal in his initial varsity game.
The Lions came back on Sept. 14 to score a 10-2 victory against Marist High School from Bayonne on Chakey Field.
In front bleachers packed with RC soccer supporters, Antonio Altamirano scored four more goals.
Erick Ojeda, a junior, scored twice and Tomas Carvalho added a goal and an assist while his brother, Billy Carvalho, contributed three assists to the RC attack.
Nick Anton, Joe Diaz and Chris Porter also scored goals for the Lions in the Saturday sunshine, while Jeffrey Castro and Alex Lago added two assists apiece. Winning goalie Anthony Milano made two saves.
The RC Varsity Boys Soccer team returns to Chakey Field on Sept. 17 to face Union County Conference Valley Division foe Hillside at 4 p.m.
The RC JV Boys soccer squad opens its season on Sept. 18 vs. Oratory at home.
