Dominique Gaskins, senior, track and field
“Dominique Gaskins is a senior thrower for the Union track and field team. She has been an integral part of the team’s field events with a concentration in the shot and discs for the past four years. Dominique recently won the Watchung Conference Championships in the shot with a personal record of 37 feet, 10 1-2 inches. She will most definitely be missed after this year, but I look forward to seeing a strong finish to her throwing career for the Farmers!” — Coach Adriane Damiano
Between discus and shot, which event do you prefer?
Between discus and shot, I would much rather prefer shot put. I’ve been doing shot put since the 8th grade middle school year. It’s something I’ve always excelled in, so I focused on it way more than discus.
What is your proudest moment this season?
My proudest moment this season would have to be winning the title for shot put in the Watchung Conference. It would have to be my proudest moment because that day I struggled horribly with my allergies, but I didn’t let that get the best of me I kept pushing and even got a personal record.
What do you feel is the most important thing you’ve gotten out of competing in high school sports?
The most important thing I believe I have gotten out of competing in high school sports is to never doubt yourself and always believe in yourself because you never know what you’re capable of achieving.
What are your plans for the summer?
My plans for this summer is to get a job, make money and have fun with the people I love.
What are your plans beyond high school?
My plans beyond high school is to go to a trade school for culinary, and beyond that to eventually own my own big brand clothing line.
What will you miss most from high school?
What I will miss most about high school is being able to not have as much responsibilities as you do in the real world. I would also miss
competing in the track meets.
Beyond summer vacation, what are you most looking forward to?
Beyond summer vacation, I am definitely looking forward to the new chapter of my life that I have ahead of me and to see what opportunities are yet to come.
