UNION —Members of the Union Police Department responded to Chase Bank at 1224 Stuyvesant Ave. at 3:03 p.m. yesterday on a report of a bank robbery.
Officers on scene determined the bank had been held up by one man, who presented a threatening note. The teller gave the man some money and he fled the bank on foot.
Officers checked the area for any leads or evidence, but did not find anything immediately after the crime. Bank employees were still confirming the amount of money taken in the robbery.
The suspect was described as a very dark-skinned black male with a medium build. He was wearing a shiny black bubble jacket that was possibly from the Marmot company, a black Yankee’s baseball cap, black sweat pants and black and white sneakers.
The suspect had his face covered and wore dark tinted sunglasses at the time of the robbery.
