UNION, NJ — The Union High School Interact Club, a branch of Rotary International and sponsored by the Union Rotary Club, recently made a significant donation to ShelterBox USA.

ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity which provides humanitarian aid worldwide in the form of shelter, warmth and dignity for people displaced by natural and other disasters.

The club set a goal of $1000 for fundraising efforts in order to pay for a ShelterBox and through teamwork met that goal. Each ShelterBox contains a 10 person tent, blankets, water purification and cooking equipment, basic tools, a stove and other essential equipment.

Members of the club were moved to raise money and make this important donation when they learned that typical aid after disasters comes in the form of food and medicine but little assistance is given in terms of proper shelter as survivors try to rebuild their lives.

All boxes are numbered so they can be tracked by donors.

Interact is an international organization of service clubs for young people of secondary school age that fosters leadership and responsible citizenship and promotes international understanding and peace.
