Two suspects arrested in credit card theft in Linden

LINDEN — On Aug. 10, the victim of a credit card theft confronted two suspects who allegedly used her credit card as they were exiting Julien’s Army & Navy, 316 N. Wood Ave. The two escaped by running through backyards dropping clothes and sneakers that they had purchased with the stolen card.

After an eight week investigation by Det. Kevin Mikolajczyk, both suspects have been identified and arrested. After the photo was released to the media, a citizen contacted police and identified the woman as Chrystal Clark, age 25, of Elizabeth, formerly of Linden.

Detectives looked into her background and were able to identify her boyfriend as the male suspect in the photo, Salik Stephens, 31, of Newark. Stephens was arrested by Jersey City Police on Sept. 19 on an unrelated charge when detectives were able to serve him with the new complaint.

Both are now being charged with credit card theft. Stephens is presently being held in the Hudson County Jail. Clark turned herself into detectives on Oct. 9 after learning that she was being sought. She is being held at the Union County Jail on $20,000 bail pending an Oct. 18 court date.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Det. Kevin Mikolajczyk at 908-474-8530.
