YMCA in Rahway welcomes new aquatic director

RAHWAY — The Gateway Family YMCA – Rahway Branch has hired Jaimie Hinshelwood in the position of Aquatic Director at the 1564 Irving St. location.

“The Gateway Family YMCA – Rahway Branch is thrilled to welcome Jaimie Hinshelwood as our new Aquatics Director, said Associate Executive Director Ed Soder. “Along with a positive attitude and lots of creative energy, Jaimie brings years of aquatic experience at various YMCA programs and has already brought positive change to our aquatics programs, specifically in private swim lessons and water exercise options.”

Most recently, Hinshelwood was the acting Aquatic Director at the Ocean County YMCA in Toms River. Her previous experience includes aquatic management, lifeguard training, Developmental Swim Team Coach and many years as a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor.

She holds a Bachelor’s of the Arts degree in Exercise Physiology from William Paterson University, where she also swam competitively. “My goal is for the Aquatic Program to be known as the best Aquatic program in the state,” said Hinshelwood, when asked about her goals.

“I’m excited to bring a fresh perspective and programming to the Aquatics Department, she added. “I am also looking forward to meeting all of our regular swimmers.”

The Rahway Branch just completed a $3.4 million renovation project, which included renovations to the existing pool area. Hinshelwood begins the Spring program session this week at the YMCA, including many new program options for all ages.
