RAHWAY — Arts Guild New Jersey will be presenting New Jersey Isn’t Boring — curated by Cyd Katz-Seidel creator of NewJerseyIsntBoring.com —from March 22 to April 16.
The exhibit will feature the artwork of the over thirty New Jersey artists who were selected through an open juried competition. The exhibition will have a free, public reception on Sunday, March 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Arts Guild New Jersey, 1670 Irving St. in Rahway.
The Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m, Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. or by appointment for groups of 10 or more. The exhibition is wheelchair accessible.
“If there is one thing that all New Jersey residents know to be true it’s that people who live in it love it, and outsiders have a bad impression of it,” said Katz–Seidel. “Years of terrible reality television shows have tarnished the reputation of the great, Garden State. It’s time for people to get back to appreciating a state that is known for its beautiful beaches, vibrant cities, great food, eclectic culture and so much more. New Jersey is becoming a stereotype and it’s time for things to change.”
The intention of the exhibit is to provoke a new audience to take a new look at New Jersey. All artists exhibiting work are residents of New Jersey and their art work reflects different aspects of New Jersey including its beaches, landmarks, food, history, pop culture and more.
Featured artists for this exhibit are: Marina Ahun, Ron Brown, Robert Cashion, Chiara Chandoha, Denise Croft, Lauren Curtis, Richard Earl, Chris Ernst, Alex Flannery, Colleen Gahrmann, Corey Hudson, Mariya Kovalyov, Medha Kulkarni, Brian Lav, Zig Mantell, Diane Metz, Maria Mijares, Scott Modrzynski, Tina Morrison, Nancy Ori, Frank Parisi, June Ponte, Charlene Rieger-Velli, Howard Marc Steiman, Carol Taylor-Kearney, Erica Vojnich, Alan Walker, Jodi Walker, Claudia Waters, Grace Zambelli, and Michael Zambelli.
