Free yoga class to be held
On Sept. 24, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., in the Community Room at Borough Hall, Linda Green will give a free, introductory yoga class, specifically designed for active adults age 55 and older.
The class will focus on using the breath to calm the mind and increase energy, and will teach simple alignment principals. Pre-register by calling the Recreation Office by Sept. 20. There is no obligation to register for future classes, for which there is a fee. They take place at the same location on Oct. 1, 15, 22 and 29, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.

Mountainside prepares for Clean Communities Day
New Jersey Clean Communities is a statewide litter-abatement program created by the passage of the Clean Communities Act. The Borough of Mountainside’s annual Clean Communities Day will be held Oct. 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided immediately after the event, which is for litter pick-up only. A meeting will be held on Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the second-floor lounge at the Municipal Building to discuss details. It is not necessary to attend the meeting to participate in the event.

Tennis lessons to begin Sept. 24 at Deerfield
Beginning the week of Sept. 24, the US Sports Institute will conduct a youth tennis program, offering hourly lessons on Mondays and Wednesdays immediately after school at the Deerfield Courts. The five-week classes will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for children aged nine to 13, and 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for children aged five to eight. There will be a fee.

Ladies’ Nights are Wednesdays this fall
Wednesdays, from Sept. 17 through Oct. 17, are Ladies’ Nights. They take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Echobrook Tennis Courts under the supervision of Jeanie Ruban and Kathy Gerndt. This program incorporates instruction, as well as playing lessons for more advanced players. There is a fee.
