Officers raid residence in Linden for illegal drugs; two arrested

LINDEN — On Tuesday at 11:13 a.m. after a month-long investigation, narcotics officers raided a residence on the 100 block of Chandler Ave. in Linden.

Michael J. Lewis, 25, of Linden, was arrested and charged with possession and distribution of marijuana, distribution within 500’ of a public park, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, and contempt warrants out of Linden and the Union County Sheriff’s Department. His bail was set at $101,050.

Melinda Neal, 51, also of Linden, was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, and a contempt warrant out of Linden. Her bail was set at $3,000.

Both have a court date set for March 5.

Detectives recovered several bags of marijuana, a digital scale, and packaging materials used for CDS distribution. Officers also seized a Mossberg .12 gauge shotgun.

The Narcotics Squad, led by Det. Lt. William Turbett, was assisted by the Linden Police SWAT team and detectives from the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.
