Rob Schork, varsity football player
“A defensive end and halfback/tight end by trade, because of an injury to Jimmy Shriner, Rob was forced into the full-time tailback role for the final two games of the season in the playoffs against Linden and Phillipsburg. Against Linden, Rob responded by rushing for 176 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Cougars to a 30-12 upset win against Linden in the first round of the playoffs. In addition, Rob also played well at his defensive end position, recording five tackles and a batted ball, leading a defense that kept Linden out of the end zone until the last play of the game — the other score was on the opening kickoff. At Phillipsburg, against the first-seeded Stateliners, Rob rushed for 106 yards and had five tackles in a game that the Cougars only trailed 7-0 after three quarters, before falling 21-0.”
