Gateway Regional Chamber of Commerce and SBA to host Small Business Economic Outlook Forum on Oct. 23

ELIZABETH — The Gateway Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Small Business Administration will be hosting a Small Business Economic Outlook Forum, Friday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Newark Airport Marriott Hotel. Open networking and a luncheon are included.

The panelists are scheduled to be Dr. JD Foster, deputy chief economist of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce; Dr. Alexander Heil, chief economist of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; and Dr. James Hughes, dean of the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University. The panel will be moderated by Jim Coyle, president of the Gateway Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The panel will explore the economic factors facing small businesses in the North Jersey-New York metropolitan region. Foster will focus on national economic issues and constraints which have prevented a more robust economic recovery. Heil will speak to the region’s economy and the importance of infrastructure to economic activity. Hughes will explore long-term trends in real estate as an indicator of the region’s economic direction.
