SPRINGFIELD — The Donald B. Palmer Museum of the Springfield Free Public Library is currently featuring an exhibit of sculptures by Springfield resident Jarrett Goldberg through July 31.
Retired as an art teacher in the Millburn-Short Hills school district, Goldberg currently works in Summit at the New Jersey School of Visual Art. She received her training as an artist at a variety of locations including Kean University, the Art Students League, the New School, Snow Farm in Massachusetts and the John Campbell School in North Carolina.
Her work has been exhibited in numerous juried shows in the area including the Gaelen Invitational Art Show, where Goldberg received a designation of honorable mention.
According to Goldberg, “My work celebrates human relationships and the enormous range of human feelings. The abstract quality of my work allows me to focus on the gestures and beauty of the human figure in simple flowing and interconnected forms. This ultimately results in creating both an aesthetic and artistic point of view.”
Goldberg works in clay, firing and finishing each piece with a patina of her own choosing. Some of her pieces have also been bronzed.
