UNION — One in six Americans struggle with hunger and nearly 400,000 children in New Jersey live in food insecure homes.
Beginning Saturday, May 9, The Mavins Group will launch a week-long Move For Hunger food drive in partnership with The National Association of Senior Move Managers to help mothers feed their families. The drive will raise funds and food for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey headquartered in Hillside.
Participants are encouraged to right-size their homes while supporting those in need and donate non-perishable food items in honor of their mothers for Mother’s Day.
Participants can drop off donated items at Weichert Realtors, located at 1307 Stuyvesant Ave., Union. There will also be a virtual drop off where participants can make a financial contribution directly to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. Suggested food items for donation include soups, non-perishable items such as canned fruits, vegetables and soups, peanut butter, shelf stable milk and more.
To kick-off the drive, Brookdale ShopRite in Bloomfield, will host a Pre-Mother’s Day collection on Saturday, May 9 from 2 to 6 p.m.
