Saturday’s UCT baseball, softball schedule postponed due to rain; UCT lacrosse championship games still on

Summit lax squads going for another title

Mother Nature wiped out what could have been a beautiful day of Union County Tournament baseball and softball competition.

Friday and Saturday morning’s rain forced postponements of the UCT baseball championship games and the UCT softball semifinals – all scheduled to be played Saturday at Kean University in Union.

The UCT varsity baseball championship game is now set to be played at Kean Sunday at 1 p.m.

Top-seeded Cranford will be the home team, while third-seeded Westfield will have its choice of dugout.

Game balls will be provided by the Union County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (UCIAC).

The UCT junior varsity baseball championship game will now be played some time during the week.

The UCT baseball championship games were originally scheduled to be played Saturday at Kean at noon and 3 p.m.

The UCT softball semifinals were to be played at Kean Saturday at noon and 2 p.m.

They will now be played some time during the week.

The UCT softball championship games are still scheduled to be played at Kean on May 18 at noon, the JV game, and at 2 p.m., the varsity contest.

The UCT softball semifinals include fourth-seeded Johnson vs. top-seeded Westfield and third-seeded New Providence vs. seconnd-seeded and two-time defending champion Governor Livingston.

As long as there is no thunder and lightning, the UCT boys’ and girls’ lacrosse championship games are still on for Saturday at Johnson High School’s Nolan Field.

The UCT girls’ lacrosse final at 5 p.m. pits second-seeded Oak Knoll vs. top-seeded and four-time defending champion Summit. Oak Knoll defeated Summit in the regular season.
